Enjoy the cooler temperatures at the New Orleans Botanical Garden this month. Each Wednesday during the month of October, NOBG will extend its hours to 8 p.m. As always, admission on Wednesdays for Louisiana residents is complimentary, courtesy of The Helis Foundation.

The extended hours are part of Evenings with Enrique, a biannual series occurring in April and October on Wednesdays from 5 to 8 p.m. Guests can view the sculptures in The Helis Foundation Enrique Alférez Sculpture Garden under enhanced lighting and fire baskets suspended from the oak trees. Kitchen in the Garden will be open and serving food and drinks for purchase.

Paul Soniat, the director of NOBG, told Adore that before COVID, the Garden would have about 200 guests attend Evenings with Enrique. “We expect to welcome about 100 guests during the event.”

Evenings with Enrique will take place October 7, 14, 21, and 28. On October 28, NOBG has partnered with Hugo Montero to create a Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) altar which will be on view through Sunday, November 1.

Tai chi and yoga on the lawn, and meditation will also be offered in the Japanese Garden. It is a first come, first serve basis to participate in these activities. Soniat explained that the outdoor space is large and easy to accommodate adequate spacing between participants. Masks are required.
